Intent data is the set of digital behavior signals captured on and off your website that indicate a B2B account is actively researching a category your product operates in, before they contact any vendor.
Intent data is a class of signal, not a product. It is any observable behavior that suggests an account is moving from passive awareness toward active evaluation: repeat visits to category pages, downloads of comparison content, searches for specific competitor names, engagement with independent review sites, hiring activity in roles that your category serves. The common thread is that the behavior happens before a prospect raises their hand.
Two broad types exist. First-party intent is captured on your own digital properties and attributed to a named account through reverse IP, account-based deanonymization, or authenticated sessions. Third-party intent is captured by external vendors (Bombora, 6sense, G2, TrustRadius, content networks) and licensed back to you. Both have value. Neither is sufficient alone.
We treat intent data as the sensor layer of the Demand Intelligence Framework, not the decision layer. The sensors feed raw events; the scoring model decides which combinations of events actually predict pipeline for each specific client. A hiring signal matters for one client and is noise for another, depending on what their ICP does and how they sell.
Our standard build layers both types. First-party intent runs through RB2B, Clearbit Reveal, or a custom IP-deanonymization pipeline, tied to the client CRM. Third-party intent comes from one vendor at a time, usually Bombora or G2, weighted against first-party signal decay. The scoring model is retuned every 12 weeks against closed-won and closed-lost data from the client’s revenue intelligence layer, so weights track reality instead of drifting.
Across 200+ Growleads B2B client campaigns (2023-2026), we saw a consistent pattern: third-party intent alone produced a 0.8% meeting-booked rate from outbound cadences. First-party intent alone produced 2.1%. The combination, when both fired on the same account within a 14-day window, produced 6.4%. The signal is not additive; it is multiplicative. Buying accounts usually trip multiple intent sensors in the same compressed window. That combination is the actual signal worth acting on.
You build the business. We build the demand.
